Happy Love Yourself Month
December can bring many challenges, particularly for those who have lost loved ones. It is tough for those who are lonely and struggling. This year, many people are struggling. As you probably are aware, food bank has escalated and with rising rent and food costs, many people are having to choose between food and rent.
Reaching out can help, being kind to yourself can help too. Whatever you need to do to support yourself, please do it. There is help out there.
Canada’s National Suicide Line opened this week and is available for calls and texts 24/7. The number is 988.
I read a newspaper column the other day that remarked on the phrase “Happy Holidays”. I agree with the author that extending this greeting is a sign of respect for others. In this diverse society, Christmas is not the “norm”, it is one celebration of many. If each of us does our part in respecting others, hopefully we can change the racism and hate that exists in this world with love and acceptance.
Whatever you celebrate, or do not celebrate, please be kind to yourself this month. Loving yourself first can bring great comfort. Go for a walk, read a book, listen to music that brings you joy. Maybe share your time with others as a volunteer.
Whatever you do, please accept our best wishes for safe, happy and warm days this month.
Blessings to you all.
